About your question: different stories take different lengths of time - and the length of time is not always proportional to the length of the story. For instance, I wrote the "Elevator Episodes" story in about 30 minutes. On the other hand, "Meaning of Life and Other Cliches", published in Anotherealm in 2005 and later went on to win the Higney Award at Anotherealm and garnered an honorable mention in the Parallax Awards, took about 10 years to be written.

BOOKSCAN #8 REVOLT IN 2100, by Robert Heinlein Baen Books (1986) This compilation consists of a novel, "If This Goes On...", and 2 novellas, "Coventry" and "Misfit". None of them is a major work though they form a part of Heinlein's Future History framework. The novel features a theocratic dictatorship in the US.
